Career-related services offered by the partners of the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board focus on meeting customers from Hunterdon and Somerset Counties where they are.

The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Service Center at 27 Warren St., second floor, in Somerville is open for in-person, career-related services 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Walk-ins are welcomed, but appointments are encouraged. Walk-in and appointment services are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Wednesday and by appointment on Thursday and Friday at the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center at 6 Gauntt Place in Flemington.  For details or to schedule an appointment, call 908-541-5780 in Somerville or 908-237-0016 in Flemington, or email onestop@co.somerset.nj.us.

In-person career-related services are available Monday through Friday at the Greater-Raritan One-Stop Career Center – Employment Services and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation – at 75 Veterans Memorial Drive, Somerville. In addition to in-person, all offices offer services through e-mail, phone and virtual platforms. A virtual orientation session for new customers of the Training Center is conducted at 10 a.m. Fridays, and virtual and in-person career-webinars on different topics are presented an ongoing basis by the Training Center and the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board. Norwescap Computer Classes: Open Class

The free computer classes offered by Norwescap CLTC will continue in-person at the Flemington United Methodist Church, at 116 Main St., Flemington, in June. The following classes will run from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., using Norwescap computers and internet.

June 3 – PowerPoint 1:  This class will explain how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create powerful, interesting presentations.

June 5 – Powerpoint 2: Attendees will learn how to use text, images, video, photos, color and designs to customize presentations and make them interesting.

June 10 – PowerPoint 3: Guidelines for creating business presentations will be reviewed, including how to utilize templates, and participants will practice giving presentations based on exercises completed in class.

June 12 – Virtual Communications:  As more and more people work remotely, they need to understand how to use virtual communication tools.  This class will focus on how to use Microsoft Teams and Zoom to hold meetings and collaborate with other team members.  Key settings on both tools will be reviewed and attendees will practice using each tool for a meeting.  Topics will include how to share your screen, turn sound/video on and off, send messages, record meetings, change backgrounds and business guidelines for using these tools.

June 17 – Introduction to Coding: This is for anyone who is curious about careers in IT and wants to sample what it is like to code and program. Learn how coding works, how easy it is to create and generate your own coded creation.

June 19 – Open Class: This class is open to anyone who has taken a class at Norwescap in the past.  There will be no agenda, but it is an opportunity for students to come back and ask questions, review topics, or ask for additional help.  Students may bring in their own computers or use the class computers for practice.

These events are exclusive to Norwescap CLTC participants, but everyone is welcome to become a participant, and all services are free of charge.
