- The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center at 8 Bartles Corner Road in Flemington is open for walk-in services with state and county partners 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, and by appointment on Thursday and Friday, as well as phone and virtual services, excluding county holidays. - The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Training Services Center on the second floor of 27 Warren St. in Somerville is open for walk-in services from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding county holidays. Call 908-541-5780 or email onestop@co.somerset.nj.us.
In addition to in-person, all offices offer services through e-mail, phone and virtual platforms. A virtual orientation session for new customers of the Training Center is conducted at 10 a.m. Fridays, and virtual and in-person career-webinars on different topics are presented an ongoing basis by the Training Center and the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board. FreeJob Readiness Computer Skills will be offered in May by Norwescap in an in-person training series at the agency’s training center at 84 Park Ave. The free series will run from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. using agency computers and Internet:
May 7: Introduction to #GoogleDocs Learn, how to format, create documents and save them on #GoogleDrive.
May 9: Office 365 Excel day 1, to create spreadsheets and charts.
May 14: Office 365 Excel day 2– Continue working on spreadsheets and charts
May 16: Office 365 Google Sheets – Learn how to create spreadsheets and save to Google Drive.
May 23: Office 365 PowerPoint day 1 to create professional presentations
May 28: Office 365 PowerPoint day 2 to create professional presentations
May 30: Google Presentations – Learn how to create a presentation and save it in Google Drive.
And lastly, on May 30, The Career & Life Club will present Getting Comfy with Public Speaking at noon via Zoom. Participants will learn an easy, fun way to get comfortable with public speaking as well as about Opportunities to Practice Your Leadership Skills, with Toastmasters.
