DESCRIPTION:RideWise\, Somerset County’s transportation agency\, works to give adults in need of reliable transportation a new ride through its BikeConnect program. BikeConnect is a bicycle rehabilitation program presented in partnership with Pops Bike Shop in Somerville; donated bicycles are repaired and given to adults who need reliable transportation for employment. \nThis program is possible only through bike donations from the community. Community members can “recycle” their old\, gently used bikes by donating them to RideWise at an Earth Day Bike Drive running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday\, April 21\, at Pops Bike Shop\, 34 E. Main St.\, Somerville. DESCRIPTION:A Veterans Virtual Information Session about a free training opportunity for Tech Fundamentals training with npower will be presented from  10 to 11 a.m. Thursday\, May 11. \nVeterans interested in breaking into information technology (IT) for the first time can apply to Tech Fundamentals\, npower’s free entry-level program. In up to 16-weeks \, participants can expect to learn IT basics and earn industry-recognized credentials\, develop confidence and a growth mindset\, and hone existing and develop new skills that will help participants succeed in tech careers. Mentoring from IT professionals is also available. \nBesides a passion to work in the tech field\, participants must meet the following criteria to be eligible: \n\nFor Military: Over age of 21\, High School Diploma or equivalent\, legally authorized to work in the U.S\, and be one of the following: transitioning active-duty service member through the DoD SkillBridge program / honorably discharged / member of the Guard or Reserves / Military spouse\, within two hours of our Newark\, N.J.\, office\n\nClasses begin in August of 2023. Classes take place Monday to Friday\, between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  or 2 to 6 p.m. depending on which session participants are assigned.
