Now\, companies are moving further into automation with something called asynchronous video interview (AVI). \nA job seeker’s first “interview” might be with a bot – an automated script or program – that uses algorithms and commands to filter out candidates who don’t tick the right boxes\, elevating only a successful few for real\, human evaluation.  AVI uses artificial intelligence (AI) to sift through applicants’ pre-recorded videos\, scanning for key words and behaviors to narrow down the pool of candidates – even ranking people by how well they meet criteria. DESCRIPTION:Students in Raritan Valley Community College’s Cosmetology program have won the “Trade Secrets of a Hair Color Expert Theory Contest.” The hair color competition\, designed specifically for students\, is presented by Product Club and Burmax. \nThe RVCC students\, Jacqueline Siguencia\, Morgan Weaver\, Melanie Ibarra\, Hannah Burd\, Layani Brown\, Octavia Williams and Brianna Murray\, were required to formulate hair color for three different outcomes based on the competition’s provided guidelines. Working on mannequins\, they then had to style the hair and describe the steps they took to achieve the desired results. \nTwenty-five cosmetology schools throughout the United States entered submissions for the competition. For their prize\, the RVCC students received an advanced color class with hair color educator David Velasco\, author of the “Trade Secrets of a Hair Color Expert” education series\, and Adrienne Rogers\, Artistic Director for Product Club and owner of Hush Salon in Philadelphia. \nThe next session of RVCC’s daytime Cosmetology program will run March 13\, 2023 to January 18\, 2024. DESCRIPTION:The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center in Somerville is hosting a series of Jersey Job Club Workshops in January. These workshops will be virtual\, through Zoom\, but a limited number of seats are available for in-person attendance at the One-Stop Career Center\, 75 Veterans Memorial Drive\, Somerville. \nThe partners in the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center have the expertise and knowledge to help job seekers have success. In Jersey Job Club workshops\, a Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Coach leads hour- to 90-minute-long discussions on topics aimed at assisting job seekers in Hunterdon and Somerset Counties. There is no charge to attend. \nDates and topics are: \n\nMonday\, Jan. 9\, 9 to 10 a.m.:  Path to Employment -: Planning Your Job Search – Workshop 1\nMonday\, Jan.9\, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Networking – Best (fastest) way to find a job\nMonday\, Jan. 23\, 9 to 10:30 a.m.: Resume Writing Workshop 1 – Top Notch Resume\nMonday\, Jan. 23\, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Resume Writing Workshop 2 – Cover Letters  and More\nMonday\, Jan. 30\, 9 to 10:30 a.m.: Acing the Interview 1 – Preparing for the Interview\nMonday\, Jan. 30\, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Acing the Interview 2 – Answering Interview Questions\n\nTo attend virtually or in person\, fill out an information/registration form.
