DESCRIPTION:Norwescap CLTC’s Computer Class Series is designed to help class participants build a strong foundation using computers. This month’s free series will be conducted in person at the Flemington United Methodist Church\, 116 Main St.\, Flemington\, using CLTC’s computers and Internet. Class time for the following classes is 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. \nNovember 7\, 12 and 14: – This class will explain what Microsoft Excel is and how it can be used in many different ways.  It will go over basic functionality such as rows\, columns\, and cells and how to enter and reference data.  Participants will learn how to write basic Excel functions and understand how they can be used in everyday applications such as budgeting.  The class will cover the key Excel options and settings and will touch on reporting capabilities using pivot tables and charts (at a high level). \nNov. 19 – Computer Skills Brush Up (Open Topic Day):  The computer instructor will be available in-person to answer questions\, review additional topics and provide overall support. Students can bring their personal computers and phones for troubleshooting and advice. This session is exclusively available to anyone who has taken a class in the past. Computers will be available for students to practice with or use to work on resumes\, job applications\, etc.        \nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Using SkillUp Greater Raritan for Employer Training Needs
DESCRIPTION:Employers are invited to attend a series of webinars to learn how SkillUp Greater Raritan can be utilized to provide free upskilling training to staff. The sessions are conducted at 11 a.m. on the third Thursday of the month – on September 19\, October 17\, November 21\, and December 19\, 2024. During each session\, examples of how local employers are using the platform for training will be shared. In addition\, other business-focused programs offered by the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (GRWDB) and state partners will be reviewed. \nSkillUp Greater Raritan using Metrix Learning® is a learning management system with more than 7\,000 courses that can be used for internal employee assessment and upskilling. Employers can choose from preset tracks or customize courses based on their department needs. Employers in Hunterdon and Somerset counties are using the platform for: \n\nNew Hires – Onboarding standards\nCareer Ascendancy – Identify skills for promotion\nManagers/Supervisors – Skill development for managers\, new and old\nTechnology Training – Ensure staff are familiar with current best practices.\n\nEmployers can have individuals or cohorts trained. DESCRIPTION:Norwescap CLTC’s Computer Class Series is designed to help class participants build a strong foundation using computers. SUMMARY:Virtual Information Session on Free Pilot Training Program to Work in Life Sciences Industry
DESCRIPTION:SOKOL GxP\, a Somerset County-based provider of services to the pharmaceutical\, biotech and cell therapy industries\, is launching a pilot training program in early 2025 for those interested in getting hands-on training to work in clean rooms for the life sciences industry. \nFor this multi-month pilot program\, the training is completely free for participants\, and there are 20 slots available. Those who complete the program will get a certificate and a guarantee by SOKOL to get an interview with the company for possible employment placement. \nThe training program\, which does not require a college degree or prior experience in the life sciences\, will start in January and last for three to four months. It will include online courses which can be completed at the participant’s own pace as well in-person weekday sessions at the company’s training location at 23 Orchard Road\, Skillman section of Montgomery (in the Somerset Innovation Center). In addition\, other business-focused programs offered by the Greater Raritan Workforce Development Board (GRWDB) and state partners will be reviewed. \nSkillUp Greater Raritan using Metrix Learning® is a learning management system with more than 7\,000 courses that can be used for internal employee assessment and upskilling. DESCRIPTION:During the month of January\, Norwescap Career Life & Transitions Center (CLTC) is bringing its “Computer Class Series” to the Flemington United Methodist Church\, located at 116 Main St\, Flemington. These free classes will be conducted in-person\, using CLTC computers and Internet. Class times for the following sessions are from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. \nJanuary 7\, 9\, 14\, and 16: Computer Basics 1:  This will be a four-class series that will cover the following: \n\nDifferent types of computers\nDifferences between hardware\, software\, and operating systems (focusing on Windows)\nFile management overview including how to name\, store\, and find files on one’s computer\nThings to consider when purchasing a computer\nInternet basics including discussing different browsers and search engines\, accessing email\, and setting up favorites\nKeyboard and Mouse skill overview and practice.\n\nJanuary 23: Advanced Excel:  This is a one-day class that will continue to build on Excel basic skills and focus on the following: \n\nVLookup\, HLookup\, and XLookup\nCustomizing Pivot tables\nCreating and customizing Charts\nCreating presentation type Excel sheets\n\nJanuary 28: Skills Brush Up :  This class is open to anyone who has taken a class with the CLTC in the past.  There will be no agenda\, but it is an opportunity for students to come back and ask questions\, review topics\, or ask for additional help.  Students may bring in their own computers or use the class computers for practice. \n January 30: Word:  This will begin a three-session class focused on Microsoft Word.  This class will discuss the evolution of word processing\, how Microsoft Word has influenced producing documents\, review key Word options\, functions and settings\, explain how to use tables and templates\, review guidelines to create professional documents and provide opportunities to practice using Word. \nTo register\, please call 908-788-1453.
