SUMMARY:Free Forklift Certificate Class at Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center\, Somerville
DESCRIPTION:The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Employment Services office at 75 Veterans Memorial Drive in Somerville offers a free forklift certificate class on the first Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the year. \nThe Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) Certificate Class will enable successful participants to receive an operator’s permit from their employer upon passing a practical skills evaluation at their workplace. To take the course\, participants must have an office government ID (driver’s license\, passport\, etc.) The Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center services residents of Hunterdon and Somerset counties. \nClasses in 2026 are scheduled for January 8 (because of the New Year’s holiday)\, February 5\, March 5\, April 2\, May 7\, June 4\, July 2\, August 6\, September 3\, October 1\, November 5\, and December 3. Participants are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the class. \nClasses may fill up quickly. To register\, go to the Somerville One-Stop Career Center walk-in window and ring the bell\, or call 908-704-3000. \n

DESCRIPTION:Through policy\, oversight\, and planning\, the GRWDB ensures that workforce training and education investments are responsive to and meet the needs of employers and jobseekers. As part of this work\, the GRWDB is responsible for maintaining committees to help inform decision-making around services and priorities for targeted populations. \nOne of those is the GRWDB’s Youth Committee\, which works to coordinate and integrate local youth services with current partners while seeking ways to expand and develop local youth services. \nMeetings are open to the public. SUMMARY:Employer Webinar: Using Metrix Learning/SkillUp for Staff Training
DESCRIPTION:Employers in Somerset and Hunterdon Counties are invited to attend one two webinars to learn how SkillUp Greater Raritan can be used to provide free upskilling training to staff. The sessions will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday\, March 3\, 2026\, and at 3:30 p.m. Thursday\, March 5. 2026. During each session\, there will be examples of how local employers are using the platform for staff training and participants will also learn about other GRWDB paid-training opportunities for businesses. \nEmployers may join either session by using the following link: https://meet.goto.com/510433933. \nThe SkillUp Greater Raritan Metrix Learning® platform is a free online learning-management system featuring more than 7\,000 courses\, which can be done individually or with cohorts. The courses can be used for new hires\, development for longtime workers and manager skill enhancement. The $199 per person cost of the employee training program will be covered by GRWDB grant dollars. \nEmployers can choose a preset learning path\, or they can customize the employee learning system to fit their needs. Metrix Learning® personnel will collaborate with employers to create a program that fits their learning needs.
