DESCRIPTION:During the month of February\, Norwescap Career Life & Transitions Center (CLTC) is bringing its “Computer Class Series” to the Flemington United Methodist Church\, at 116 Main St\, Flemington. These free classes will be conducted in-person\, using CLTC computers and Internet. Class times for the following sessions are from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. \nFebruary 4: Advanced Excel:  This is a one-day class that will continue to build on Excel basic skills and focus on the following: \n\nVLookup\, HLookup\, and XLookup\nCustomizing Pivot tables\nCreating and customizing Charts\nCreating presentation type Excel sheets\n\nFebruary 6\, 11 and 13: Word 1\, 2 and 3: This class will discuss the evolution of word processing\, how Microsoft Word has influenced producing documents\, review key Word options\, functions and settings\, explain how to use tables and templates\, review guidelines to create professional documents and provide opportunities to practice using Word. \nFebruary 18\, 20 and 25:  PowerPoint 1\, 2 and 3: This class will explain how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create powerful\, interesting presentations.  Participants will learn how to use text\, images\, video\, photos\, color and designs to customize presentations and make them interesting.  Guidelines to use in creating business presentations will be reviewed\, along with how to utilize templates. Participants also will practice giving presentations based on exercises completed in class. \nFebruary 27: Skills Brush Up:  This class is open to anyone who has taken a class with the CLTC in the past.  There will be no agenda\, but it is an opportunity for students to come back and ask questions\, review topics\, or ask for additional help.  Students may bring in their own computers or use the class computers for practice. \nTo register\, call 908-788-1453 or 908-900-0060\, ext. 1503.

DESCRIPTION:Through policy\, oversight\, and planning\, the GRWDB ensures that workforce training and education investments are responsive to and meet the needs of employers and jobseekers and is responsible for maintaining committees to help inform decision-making around services and priorities for targeted populations. One of those includes the GRWDB’s Literacy Committee\, which works with Title II literacy providers and volunteer literacy organizations in Hunterdon and Somerset counties to ensure literacy training is connected to the other services offered in Greater Raritan’s workforce system. \nThe agenda for the February 11 meeting will a report out on the first 18 months of the First Step Basic English program\, and a discussion on how to continue coordination between partners of this and Title II literacy services.
